In Trouble

So yesterday we got in a little bit of trouble. We have been a little underwhelmed by the details given to us about living and working in an occupied territory. Although everyone has been very nice the organization of our arrival left a lot to be desired.

We would have liked an orientation to living here, a list of phone numbers, things we should expect, etc. We didn't get any of those things so we're learning the hard way.

Yesterday one of our neighbours a Dr. So and so dropped by our place to politely tell us to limit our use of heat and hot water to at most 4 or 5 hours per day. Apparently our water is heated (and thereby our "central heat" is created) via the burning of gas. Apparently their is a gas shortage in Nablus. Apparently the building's tank is only at 20% of capacity. Apparently they expect it to run out in the next week or so. Apparently our turning the heat on and leaving it on while we are home (turning it off when we leave) was excessive. Who knew?

So now we will get home at 3:30ish and leave the heat off for a few hours. We will then turn it on for the house to warm up from cold to chilly and for me to have a shower every second day or so. I will then get up an hour or so before Swell (for a mere 30 seconds) to run across the house to turn on the water (a simple switch) so that she will have hot water to get ready in the morning. Once she announces she is done off it goes. Rinse and repeat.
