New adventures begin. This blog will discuss the transient lives of Swell - a young woman who has the tendency to swell randomly due to a disease known as HAE - and her husband Sheepie Sr. Both Swell and Sheepie Sr. are optometrists who desire to change the world through the pursuit of peace, love, and justice. Optometric adventures are set to the side while they shift gears to optometric public health work in the South Pacific. Feel free to comment, challenge, or question.

I'm guessing this is an inside joke.
Nah,not an inside joke per se. My sister, JL, got me a DVD set for Christmas. It is a Canadian sitcom called Corner Gas. For some crazy reason she bought me season 3. I absolutely refuse to watch a show out of order so shortly after Christmas day I ordered seasons 1 and 2 off the internet. Of course they arrived like the day AFTER we left for Palestine so we carried season 3 around with us and never watched it as seasons 1 and 2 were waiting patiently for us at home.
The show is set in a very small, rural town in Saskatchewan. Yesterday we watched episode 6 of season 1. It struck us as very, very funny. The town wanted to put itself on the tourist map so they decided to build the world's biggest - something.
An older woman suggested the world's biggest hoe. And hilarity ensued.
If you like Canadian humour (and who doesn't?) and want to watch a show where the main character's dad reminds me of Preston Manning (am I the only one that sees this resemblance?) buy Corner Gas. It is very, very funny. Even to Nicole...who has the world's strangest sense of humour.
Oh. So I was thanking my sister for introducing us to the show.
Which Saskatchewan town? Would Nicole and I know of it? LeRoy, Melford, Moose Jaw, Waskasiu.. etc..
Ummmm... the fictional town is called Dog River.
I'm led to believe that it is filmed in Rouleau, SK. Not sure if that is true though.
Hmmm... I wonder if we drove by Rouleau when we went there. I don't remember it, but then again I was drugged with Dramamine so I don't get motion sickness when driving.
Your time is 2 AM! Must be Middle Eastern time.
I think you should lend us your DVD's so we can watch them to. This is a show we haven't watched but knew we would enjoy it if we did.

Ma,
We need seasons 2 and 3 of Monk - which I think you have. Will exchange Corner Gas for those.
Yikes - that would mean I have to watch them! Maybe I'll bring them to watch on our vacation - those days when I'm lazing at the mansion.
Love Mum
Your welcome for the Corner Gas. A little piece of Corner Gas trivia - Every characters last name is a real small town in Saskatchewan.
By the way, I now have a blog of my own. It currently says nothing. I'll start putting in the story of our Amazing race and then I'll give you the address.
Three more weeks...!
